Our Story
Reverte began with a problem…
We realised that farmers were delivering real, nature-positive outcomes but receiving little recognition or funding for the value they created.
With government subsidies phasing out, private markets held huge potential, but there was no straightforward way for land managers to get paid for the work they were already doing.
We set up the business to change that, by building nature markets that could channel meaningful investment into the landscape, enhancing biodiversity, resilience, and environmental benefit.
Along came biodiversity net gain…
With the introduction of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG), the opportunity, and the challenge, grew rapidly. Developers suddenly needed credible, high-quality units, while landowners needed clear pathways to monetise the habitats they could create. This became the core of our work.
Today, Reverte focuses on making BNG as simple and straightforward as possible. We provide a full end-to-end solutuion to BNG, from surveys, to strategy and unit supply. We help developers enter the market with confidence, clarity, and speed.
Our belief is simple: by simplifying the process for developers, we unlock funding for nature. When nature is properly valued, everyone benefits -from landowners and local communities to developers and the ecosystems they impact.

Case Studies
“ We asked Reverte to review a Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) metric on one of our sites. Their team took a fresh look and quickly identified where some figures had been incorrectly inputted, bringing the results back in line with the true ecological value of the site. Their input saved us a considerable sum while keeping the project fully compliant and environmentally sound. ”
Client: Fenway Homes
Service: Independent Review & Off-Site Unit Brokerage
Overview
Fenway Homes engaged ReVerte Consultants to provide an independent second-opinion review of a Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessment for a proposed development. The initial metric suggested an unexpectedly high requirement for off-site units disproportionate to the site’s ecological baseline and potentially damaging to project viability.
Our Approach
ReVerte followed a clear, evidence-led process to ensure both ecological integrity and regulatory compliance:
Conducted an additional onsite survey, confirming that the habitat types and their condition had been correctly identified.
Undertook a detailed examination of the BNG metric, which revealed calculation errors relating to tree sizes that had significantly inflated the off-site unit requirement.
Ensured full adherence to BNG rules and Natural England guidance, correcting the metric so that it accurately reflected the site’s true ecological value.
Brokered the necessary off-site units, once the accurate requirement was established, securing a compliant and appropriate solution.
Outcomes
The corrected metric provided a fair and defensible representation of the site’s ecological baseline. This:
Upheld ecological integrity, ensuring the development still delivered a meaningful nature-positive outcome
Maintained full compliance with BNG policy, trading rules, and the mitigation hierarchy
Prevented Fenway Homes from over-purchasing unnecessary off-site units
Enabled the project to proceed confidently with a clear audit trail
By pairing ecological accuracy with professional brokerage, ReVerte protected the client from avoidable costs without compromising nature, compliance, or the principles behind BNG.

We checked all quotes suitability against BNG trading rules, ensuring all unit options met the required habitat type, distinctiveness, strategic significance, and spatial criteria.
-
We ensured our client receieved the most competitive rates.
-
We produced a structured comparison report, presenting:

BNG had been taken seriously and approached responsibly.
The mitigation hierarchy had been followed appropriately.
All options adhered to the relevant BNG trading rules.
All habitat banks considered were formally registered on the Habitat Bank Register.
A fully compliant BNG procurement process was in place, satisfying all requirements for off-site BNG delivery
